From Mannheim Seminar to
Global Stage
Global Stage
ISC High Performance is proudly celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. What began as the Mannheim Supercomputing Seminar, organized by HPC enthusiast Prof. Dr. Hans Werner Meuer and attended by just 81 professionals from Germany and the English-speaking world – including researchers, university professors, and a few vendors – has evolved into a globally respected event in the HPC community. Today, ISC attracts a diverse audience of scientists, researchers, engineers, technology developers and providers, students, analysts, and journalists.
Furthermore, ISC is where the TOP500 list was first introduced, ranking the world’s fastest supercomputers! Now, in its 40th year, ISC remains a vital gathering place for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration, extending its focus beyond traditional HPC to include developments and trends in AI and Quantum Computing.
STATISTICS
THE BIG 4-0
To celebrate ISC’s 40th anniversary, we created a Memory Wall that showcases significant high performance computing achievements and milestones, memories from past conferences, as well as personal reflections from community members. This wall was designed to evoke nostalgia and also encourage conversations at ISC 2025.
The Memory Wall is now available for digital viewing on our website and accessible to everyone, including community members who were unable to attend in person.
We posed a key question on the Memory Wall – Which will dominate science and industry in the next decade: Traditional HPC, AI, or quantum computing?
We invite you to explore this question and reflect on the future of our field.
"Because I am very passionate about the future of HPC, AI, and engineering simulations, ISC continues to be a must-attend event for me, bringing together global leaders and practitioners in HPC, machine learning, and quantum computing.”
Wolfgang Gentzsch
"ISC has always been quick to lean into emerging trends. The conference is constantly evolving and adapting to new technologies and trends. I think that creates broader awareness among industry and academia.”
Anja Gerbes
"Rather than chasing diversity as a checkbox, ISC fosters ongoing dialogue and reflection, encouraging all of us to go beyond surface-level representation and toward something more lasting and impactful.”
Cristin Merritt
“ISC is clearly giving back to the HPC community.”
Hatem Ltaief
"ISC is the best place to see who’s who and what’s what across the high-performance computing landscape.”
Addison Snell
