When Bull (now part of the Atos Group) kick-started the extreme factory project, its HPC-as-a-Service brand and solution portfolio, late in 2009, the vision was that HPC would rapidly adopt the public cloud paradigm, using potentially any kind of HPC app and resources as a service. This was driven by a strong demand from major organizations down to SMEs to turn their complex HPC procurements into OPEX, and to overcome the technical hurdles of HPC. Where are we at now? Are the promises made by analysts in the late 2000s getting real? What is cloud HPC made of as of today? Which markets? Which customer types? Which budget ranges? The Bull extreme factory team will share their expertise, leveraging the experience of Atos as a European HPC leader, HPC hardware and HPC cloud middleware vendor, and HPC-as-a-service provider. |
