ISC HIGH PERFORMANCE ADDS STEM STUDENT DAY TO THE 2017 PROGRAM

FRANKFURT, Germany, 22.03.2017 – ISC High Performance is pleased to announce the inclusion of the STEM Student Day & Gala at this year’s conference. The new program aims to connect the next generation of regional and international STEM practitioners with the high performance computing (HPC) industry and its key players.

ISC 2017 has created this program to welcome STEM students into the world of HPC with the hope that an early exposure to the community will encourage them to acquire the necessary HPC skills to propel their future careers.

The ISC STEM Student Day & Gala will take place on Wednesday, June 21, and is free to attend for 200 undergraduate and graduate students. All regional and international students are welcome to register for the program, including those not attending the main conference.

The organizers also encourage female STEM students to exploit this opportunity as ISC 2017 is very committed to improving gender diversity.

Students will be able to register for the program starting mid-April via the program webpage.

Participating students will enjoy an afternoon discovering HPC by visiting the exhibition and then joining a conference keynote before participating in a career fair. In the evening, they can network with key HPC players at a special gala event.

Supermicro, PRACE, CSCS and GNS Systems GmbH have already come forward to support this program. Funding from another six organizations is needed to ensure the full success of the STEM Day & Gala. Sponsorship opportunities start at 500 euros, with all resources flowing directly into the event organization. Please contact anna.schachoff@isc-group.com to get involved.

“There is currently a shortage of a skilled STEM workforce in Europe and it is projected that the gap between available jobs and suitable candidates will grow very wide beyond 2020 if nothing is done about it,” said Martin Meuer, the general co-chair of ISC High Performance.

“This gave us the idea to organize the STEM Day, as many organizations that exhibit at ISC could profit from meeting the future workforce directly.”

The ISC STEM Student Day & Gala is also a great opportunity for organizations to associate themselves as STEM employers and invest in their future HPC user base.
